Compare 11 metal roofing contractors in West Haven. Learn what standing seam and metal panel jobs involve, what to check before hiring, and how we rank them.
Metal roofing has become a common upgrade for West Haven homeowners dealing with salt air off the Sound, heavy wet snow, and the wind gusts that come with nor'easters. Instead of asphalt shingles, a metal roof uses steel or aluminum panels (standing seam being the most popular residential style) or metal shingles that mimic the look of slate or shake. A properly installed system can last 40 to 70 years, shrug off ice dams better than shingles, and hold up well against coastal humidity and salt corrosion when the right coatings are used. We've identified 11 metal roofing contractors serving West Haven, ranging from small crews focused on standing seam work to larger outfits that also handle asphalt, flat, and storm-damage repair.
A metal roofing job starts with tearing off or overlaying the existing roof (overlay only works in limited cases and can void some warranties), then installing underlayment rated for metal, flashing at every valley, chimney, and vent penetration, and finally the panels or shingles themselves, fastened with either exposed screws or hidden clips depending on the system. Coastal jobs in particular need attention to fastener and flashing material (galvanized or stainless, not bare steel) to avoid rust streaking within a few years.
We rank the 11 contractors on this list using verified reviews, responsiveness, licensing status, and consistency of work over time rather than a single star rating. The full ranked breakdown is at our best roofing contractors guide, and the criteria behind it are explained on our methodology page.

All 10 reviews award five stars. Customers consistently cite fair pricing, on-time work, and direct communication from Mike and Dan Perry. Two five-star reviews highlight Franklin Custom's attention to detail, clear communication, and high-quality materials on roof projects. A third review clashes with this pattern, suggesting inconsistency or unresolved issues that prevent a stronger overall rating.
Colonial Exteriors earns high marks for single-home roof and gutter work, with owner Chris known to follow up personally. However, a major multi-unit project revealed serious delays and incomplete work over months, with workers appearing sporadically and the site looking neglected. This split suggests the company performs well on straightforward jobs but struggles with scope and coordination on larger builds.
Nations Roof holds a perfect 5.0 rating across three Google reviews. Review detail is limited, but available feedback indicates customers value their emergency response and professional service. The business operates across the West Haven and greater New Haven area.
